Clinic Manager

Hawks Aloft, Inc. is hiring a part-time manager for the veterinary clinic. The role of the manager is to maintain the clinic equipment in good working order; ensure that the clinic is clean and organized; manage controlled drug logs and reporting; assist veterinarians with procedures; and keep clinic records. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • at least 10 years of experience as a veterinary technician
  • at least 2 years of experience with handling wild birds of prey
  • at least 2 years of experience with avian anesthesia and radiology
  • ability and willingness to support and train wildlife rehabilitators, volunteers, and interns in basic medical care
  • ability to work smoothly with multiple veterinarians and volunteers with varying levels of experience
  • excellent organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • previous managerial responsibility
  • experience with maintenance of surgical equipment
  • comfortable working with spreadsheets
  • interest in research
  • interest in enrichment of captive wild birds
  • flexibility and willingness to help out in Education, Rescue, and Research activities

Key job responsibilities:

  • Maintain clinic equipment (anesthesia, radiology, microscope, etc.) in good working order
  • Triage incoming patients 
  • Maintain controlled drug logs
  • Assist veterinarians with patient care
  • Direct rehabilitators during triage and patient care
  • Maintain hospital records (lab logs, research samples, etc.)
  • Assist with record-keeping and monitoring the health needs of captive Education birds

As noted, this is a part-time, contract position, expected to be between 5 and 10 hours per month. Our caseload is highly seasonal; we are much busier in the spring and summer months than in the fall and winter, so hours are expected to vary seasonally. The degree of involvement with Hawks Aloft captive birds (ambassador birds used for educational programs) may vary depending upon the incumbent’s interest. Salary commensurate with experience.
