Welcome to the Hawk & Owl Observation Tracking (HOOT) Project, a partnership between Hawks Aloft, Inc, and Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM). Our common goal is to make power structures safer for birds of prey (raptors). PNM and Hawks Aloft are working together to identify areas that have high concentrations of raptors (eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls), or other large birds such as the American Crow and Common Raven. We need your help, as Citizen Scientists, to report locations of nesting raptors that you encounter. The information gathered through this study will help PNM prioritize high raptor use areas, and install safety features on high risk poles before an unfortunate event occurs.

NMAP is the New Mexico Avian Protection Working Group. It is a group of individuals, corporations, government agencies, and conservation organizations that are working proactively to resolve the issues associated with raptors and utility structures.
